R55 Cleans • S34 Protects • P21 Maintains

APPLICATION:
HMK® P6 Home Care Kit has been specially developed for use on polished and honed mineral surfaces, such as kitchen counters, bathroom vanities, table and bar tops, windowsills, fire places, shower areas, and small entry ways. Both old and new installations.

DIRECTIONS:
1. Installation Clean Up and Surface Preparation with HMK® R55 Intensive Cleaner. This step cleans the stone surface, removing all grout film and ground-in dirt. It opens the pores of the stone to allow for an easy and thorough penetration of the HMK® S34 Silicone Impregnator (next step). Also perfect for periodic thorough cleaning, since R55 is pH 7.5 neutral. In case of new installation, do not perform step one until the setting bed and stone have had 5-7 days to dry.

Apply R55 with non-abrasive sponge liberally and at full strength. Allow to sit for 5-10 minutes, but do not let dry. Agitate and brush with same sponge or white/tan polyester pad. Do not use common household nylon pads. Rinse thoroughly and allow surface to dry for 48-72 hours, then go on to Step Two.

2. Protection with S34 Silicone Impregnator. This step will last for several years and will prevent dirt, water and oil from penetrating into the stone. Tap water used for regular maintenance contains chemicals (chlorine, fluoride, purifiers), minerals and salts which penetrate the surface and cause discoloration. In addition, spills of any kind may leave permanent stains. The use of impregnators allows to protect the deep capillaries of the stone from staining, the top millimeters of the stone surface may however still stain. These surface stains are easily removable with the use of R55 Intensive Cleaner or HMK® R80 Stripper/Stain Remover.

Apply S34 48-72 hours after Installation Clean Up. Surface must be completely dry and clean. Protect all adjacent non-masonry surfaces. Two applications with solvent resistant natural bristle paint brush, roller or a sponge, should be sufficient. Do the second application 5 minutes after the first one. Remove excess S34 5 to 10 minutes after second application with a dry white cloth, so that absolutely nothing remains on the surface.

If S34 is allowed to dry, it will leave splotchy, dull areas. If this happens, slightly re-dampen surface with more HMK® S34 and remove excess. S34 will dry in 1-3 hours and fully cure within 48 hours. Do not use surface for food preparation or expose it to staining agents during this time.

3. Regular Maintenance and Protection with HMK® P21 Polishing Paste. Tap water and regular cleaning detergents are not recommended for the daily care of stone. Common detergents are alkaline or acidic, bleaching the stone and etching its natural polish. P21 Polishing Paste is a special maintenance cleaner/polish/protector, containing silicone. P21 highly protects against water, dirt, and alkali, and creates a high luster. P21 completely penetrates and does not smear or leave a surface build-up.

Apply a very small amount of P21 with a clean white cotton cloth. Massage into stone in a circular motion for about 10-30 seconds. Buff immediately to high gloss using backside of same cloth until completely removed. Regular use is recommended. P21 also provides some protection against acid spills, giving you time to wipe up fruit juice or drinks before they have a chance to etch the polish. Do not allow to dry on surface. R55 will remove P21. Use R55 Intensive Cleaner whenever surface gets heavily soiled or after cooking. Simply mix R55 in spray bottle or bucket with water and wipe surface with a cloth or sponge, rinse and buff with a dry cloth. Re-application of P21 is recommended after cleaning with R55.

NOTE: The above described procedure creates the best possible protection with regard to appearance and ease of maintenance of your stone surface. It is impossible to completely protect a natural polish against acid etch marks caused by citric acids, such as wine, fruit juices, cola and harsh water (water rings). Always use coasters, fruit bowls, etc. and wipe off spills immediately.
